Private guiding and instruction is available as an alternative to attending a mountaineering course of a fixed duration with other people, sometimes of mixed ability. The advantage of booking your own guide is that individuals or small groups can work towards your own specific requirements at your pace. through a customer led package of activities. We find this often suits our clients who have limited time available and cannot fit into the structured course dates, those who are wanting to receive personal tuition on their skills or those who are wanting to achieve an individual goal.
We are able to accommodate most types of requests and a single day to a multi-day programme can be arranged at a time that suits for any number of people both Britain and the Alps. Our ratios and pricing structure depends on the location and the type of activity you want to complete such as walking, mountaineering, climbing in both winter and summer. Our prices are below but if you are unsure of the ratio on the trip you planning or simply want to discuss your thoughts then please get in touch. We’re always happy to help you plan a trip and suggest some ideas you may not have thought of.
The guide:client ratio will differ depending on the technical difficulty of the route, e.g. Matterhorn 1:1; Mt Blanc 1:2. More simple peaks and introduction to the alps (basic skills) are able to operate on 1:3 or 1:4 ratio’s
In the Alps the Guides expenses (on the mountain) should be covered (hut +meals + cable car). Accommodation and travel expenses when working away from Fort William (e.g. Skye) should also be covered in Scotland. A non-returnable deposit of 50% is required to secure a guide. The remainder should be paid on arrival. Cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
