Old Hurricane on the Loose

Tropical Storm Laura is spending it's energy out in the North Atlantic at the moment and might just touch down over Scotland this weekend. Check the link above and click on Laura on the right side to check it's expected track. Might be better to stay at home watching the 'footie', although the best team is playing on the Saturday, kicking up a storm at Blackburn :-))

Now back on track for N Scotland and even stronger...batten down the hatches on Sunday morning...This gets updated every 6 hrs but I won't bore you that often! This site is predicting a very high chance of storm force winds. i.e. 50-60 mph sustained over 1min at low level.

A Cold Blast is coming South

A really cold northerly blast is expected to appear by the end of the week, ending the recent spell of good settled early autumn weather. Almost certainly snow on the high hills.

Last weekend looking over to Great Gable from the slopes of Scafell

Approaching Snowdon via the 'Miners Track' on the shores of Llyn Llydaw. also last weekend.

Closer to home and the heather is still blooming

Grains Gill above Seathwaite en route to Scafell.

Mountain Flowers and Berries - Identification

Alan,

Hi. I think that I may have identified the flower which I found on the Buachaille; it seems that it might be Veronica Alpina (Alpine Speedwell); 'scarce' in the wild, so not surprising that I hadn't seen it before. However, if any of your viewers know better?!

Anyway, I now have an even more confusing one; please find attached a photo of a berry which I took on the Buachaille in August, at around 400m on an eastwards facing slope. Grateful if you could put on the web and see if anyone knows what it is....unless you do?

Lost Camera

Hi Alan, I called about a digital camera, which I left behind on 29 August when walking over the Glenfinnan Munros. I believe I left the camera at about 3pm at or close to the summit cairn on Sgurr Thuilm, perhaps a few feet away on the south side. It's a silver-coloured Fujifilm Finepix A405, a few years old so rather more chunky than the modern digitals.

I would be happy to reimburse anyone for the effort, if someone was able to locate the camera. Many thanks for considering my request.
