Cascade de Lillaz - Cogne - II/3 250m

Good conditions in Cogne just now. Lots of fresh snow, making approaches and descents somewhat tiresome. Cascade de Lillaz is just above Cogne and only 15 minutes from the car park. The route is very picturesque, with plenty of easy sections between the steep bits. Expect to climb ice of a gradient similar to Point Five Gully or steeper for short periods!

Last pitch. Scottish grade II/III.

Second Pitch. Scottish grade II ish.

Last pitch again.

Third pitch. Short and vertical. Scottish V.

Third pitch.

Third pitch, down on the left, with last pitch behind, beneath the obvious overhanging rock prow.

Second pitch. Scottish grade II. Be careful of the deep cold pools of water beneath the soft snow.

First pitch. Steep Scottish grade IV, depending on the line you take.

Monte Bianco. South side.

Evening sun on the West Face of the Aigulle du Dru.
