West Coast 'Chop' Route

Please consider signing this petition as it will effect all of you, who visit the west coast to climb on Ben Nevis and Glen Coe hills.

It is clear that the A82 is a very dangerous road to travel and is in need of a major upgrade.

Please read the details on the link above and sign now.

Not sure why we would want to support road upgrading which will encourage more people to drive more miles, faster, exacerbating climate change and hastening the loss of ice that is already so evident in the Alps and polar regions. Shouldn't we be asking for more investment in things like Scottish renewable energy programs, more sustainable transport systems and local services that reduce the necessity to travel instead?

So, we all stay at home, don't go climbing, get fat and add to the NHS costs! Too much red wine this evening I'm afraid. On yer bike. It'll save the planet, keep you fit and reduce wear and tear on the A82. Also, it'll mean less climbers on Ben Nevis. Great for those of us who live here, but not too good for the economy of the Highlands.

The vast area of bogland across Rannoch Moor, so drab to look at when traversing the Aonach Eagach etc, 8 (yes eight) lanes of immaculately smooth concrete will only help everyone concerned , except perhaps the local wildlife
