More Snow - More Frost - More Sunny Weather

Yesterday on Zero Gully the overnight snow created some taxing conditions on the easier upper sections. The ice pitches were all good, but not taking secure screws. It's often the case that good ice for climbing is not too great for slotting in ice protection. The belay on the first pitch is a good 55/60 metres up to the left and consists of plenty of old slings. Rock belays higher up are poor. At the moment there is a rope hanging down towards the first pitch and it is anchored fairly well.
Orion Direct also has a web of four ropes hanging down the first pitch. No doubt some abseiling history attached to them.

The easier upper sections of Zero Gully with plenty of new snow.
