Deep Deep unconsolidated Powder

Loads of snow. Even the Nevis Range Ski Road was shut for a while this morning, until Highland Council saw fit to clear it. Must be catching some bad habits from Cairngorm!

Some activity on Ben Nevis today with teams out slowly climbing Orion Direct, Hadrian's Direct (abseil after the second pitch), Point Five Gully and Indicator Wall. The approaches to all the climbs were blighted by deep snow and proved hard work, although amazingly free from avalanche hazard!

We poked about at the foot of The Curtain, which was definitely not very inviting. So, not wishing to break trail anymore than necessary we climbed a fine (hard) little mixed route on the right side of Moonlight Gully Buttress (R-Hand Chimney IV,4).

Tomorrow looks like a great day and then downhill for a while, although staying wintry and unsettled. All good for a late season burst, once the crowds from Wales and England-shire go home.
