World Championship Adventure Racing - 2007

All smiles at the finish
Nick and Warren on the left from the Aberdeen Asset Adventure Racing Team
after five days, thirteen hours and 500 km of the World Championships Adventure Race, which was recently based in Fort William
Unfortunately Helen sustained a very bad blow to her backside and was forced to retire at a point when the team were doing well. Tom packed it in as well to go back to base with Helen, However, the team are all smiles as usual and keen to get on to the next race after some well-earned rest.

Only a few kms to go in Glen Nevis on the last evening.

Haagen Dazs has the edge over all other forms of food at the end of the race !!

Warren still going well in Glen Nevis

Nick contemplating the final 1300 metres of ascent to Ben Nevis
Today the weather has changed to glorious sunshine and fluffy white clouds. Team Nike have come home first, but the other podium places are still to be decided, maybe on penalties and time-outs. Aberdeen Asset have continued, but only Nick Gracie and Warren Bates are still racing to complete the course. This afternoon at 1500 I saw them briefly in Glen Nevis, before the final ascent of Ben Nevis. Warren has a very sore shin since the swim in Loch Ness, which is possibly 'shin-splints'. Good luck guys. They hope to be down in six hours or so. Both of them have asked for a big tub of Vanilla Ice Cream each:)
