Ice climbing below the CIC Hut

Another fine and dandy day on Ben Nevis. Plenty of action in all the right places before the weather breaks tomorrow. The photo above shows the ice formations to the right of the Organ Pipes below the CIC Hut. A good location to practice ice climbing techniques only forty-five minutes from the van, if you have a key to the track that is:-)

Number Three Gully Buttress

It takes me a good hour and a half from the car park to the CIC on a good day, and sometimes I resent the easy access enjoyed by those with keys.
Among our new parliament's finest achievements is legislation on equality of access to wild land.
How can I get one of those keys, Alan?
Excellent website, btw.

The guides, clubs and individuals who use this track, pay for the keys. Currently this is £225 annually. I would support a move to make it public if you can convince Forestry Commission to open it up and get some form of charging system to pay for the upkeep. I would also support any initiative to get an overnight lodge at the car park, even to the point of investing some personal capital in the project. Anyone interested?
